I think its way overdue for Kamala to do so, and phrasing it this way is particularly effective. I've already seen one Republican try to squirm his way out of this (on the Sunday morning news shows) by claiming the compromise bill his own people negotiated with the Dems "didn't go far enough".
The truth is, of course, that Trump needs the border issue for his own campaign and that a bipartisan effort to solve the problem will leave him without any red meat for the Deplorables. The foreign worker issue (which is a legitimate one) dovetails neatly with racist and anti-labor attitudes in the Trump constituency.
But we also should remember that there is a deeper, even more sinister motive behind Trump border policies. The GOP needs lots of aliens coming across to take American jobs because they'll gladly work for less money and in more brutal conditions. And the GOP also needs for these aliens to be illegal because they can be more easily deported if they start unionizing, striking or otherwise protesting their otherwise intolerable work environment. The WALL and Border Security is all a sham, most illegals enter the country in planes, trains and automobiles.
Does anyone really think Trump is going to deport all our illegals? Who's going to harvest our crops, make our beds, buss our tables, nanny our kids or work construction in the hot sun? The American economy cannot function without slave labor. And we've all heard that before.
That's the argument I'd like Kamala to bring up next.
