What you were doing is diminishing the true horror of slavery or genocide by applying it broadly to much lesser abuses. Like calling a politician you don’t like “Hitler“ diminishes what a monster Hitler truly was. I watch people use the word “genocide“ after a soldier shoots a protester. Of course it was a bad thing. A terrible thing. It wasn’t genocide for fuck sake. Watering down words has consequences. Low wages are not slavery.
There are certainly words that have a sliding scale. Evil for example. But there are words also that have very specific meanings. They describe a certain thing or situation. if you can’t see that, I don’t know what else to say to you here.
