My wife had a respiritory problem a month or so ago that require a short hospital stay and upon discharge, a battery of breathing (oxygen) equipment was sent home with her.

She no longer needs the equipment and it seems that to get it picked up will require some red tape requiring her PCP to release her from any further need for the equipment.

This is not so bad I guess since I did call to inquire about it and it will soon be removed, but the system is set up for the equipment to remain until someone insists that it be removed. If I had not called, theoretically the equipment would have remained indefinitely with medicare paying a huge monthly rental fee.

It seems to me that the system should default to quick removal unless her PCP approved continuance on a monthly basis.
