Very deep perspective as always, ER.

My answer to that would be to look for alternative methods of finding info. I've had an idea, that while in the realm of sci-fi as of now, would surely be very effective in finding the necessary information. However, it makes the issue less of a torture one, and more of a privacy one (still a human rights issue).

Our actions would be as thus: we simply wire up their heads to a computer and see what they're thinking of, what memories they have. We are bordering on the technology needed to do this (recently, a device was invented that allowed others to see images thought of by people - I'll source it in my next Goldilocks Gazette). However, this is very reminiscent of 1984, and many people will most likely not take too kindly to random "head-checks" by the Thought Police (which is surely what it'd come to). There the question is the same for torture - are such methods really necessary and practical? As what can be seen as violations of privacy, does it violate any Geneva Convention Accords; which if such ones do not exist then should? Then we'd have to look for ANOTHER solution.

Forum game: Can anyone think of an alternative to torture that is equally effective and time-saving in gathering information?
