You are way to nice and good looking to have a new one ripped. Second, I understand your concerns and let me tell you my take on them. Sometimes that feeling in our gut is fear of change, and not intuition. People are disturbed by change, so even when we absolutely need it people get nervous and resist it. Health care has to be reformed or it will break the nation. If it fails now we will be right back here in 10 years max with a far more severe fiscal problem. It is the immutable fact that TB and his like refuse to address in this current debate. Health care costs are breaking the middle class, breaking businesses and is without argument unsustainable in its current form.
WE are in a severe economic crisis and NO ONE, democrat or republican, would cut spending in this situation. Obama didn't make this mess and his policies for the banking system, AIG, the mortgage market, the auto industry, etc etc etc have been moderately successful thus far. Also, the way George Bush stepped in with a fast and massive government bailout package when the financial markets were teetering on the brink of total collapse may be the single most important act of his otherwise failed presidency.
As for foreign relations, the jury will be out on that for a while, but already we are seeing positive signs in our relations with the world. Some feel we need to be hated to be respected. Think about that.
Obama has won hearts and minds around the world and Americans are once again admired, and not reviled. North Korea, after years of belligerent behavior, is now asking for a summit with South Korea and showing strong signs of a desire to turn down the temperature. Iran is another problem but even they are showing more willingness to cooperate with the IAEA. Ahmadinejad has fortuitously lost a lot of regional clout with his internal political situation. Because nations like Russia are pleased that we are changing our tone is no reason to think they are poised to attack. We would see it if they were. China has tremendous internal changes to cope with and wants good relations with us.
We need to fight the bad guys but EVERYONE is not the bad guys.
