You make a good point. The "who's on line" feature does make it obvious when you're talking to yourself, whereas on the old board sparse attendance would not be apparent.
I don't mind showing up in such a feature. I've noticed many boards I frequent tell who's active at a given time, and it doesn't bother me. On Litopia.com, it not only shows who's online right now, but who has been online in the last 24 hours. The forum engine there is something called "vbulletin."
Actually, it's nice to see when I'm online by myself, since I can edit a post mistake without having to worry about flagging it.
Have I said I REALLY like the edit function?
