complex systems are very sensitive to subtle changes, even those masked by extreme normal variations. this seems to be why the poles are showing these effects more than the equatorial regions. i'm not surprised sportsmen and outdoorsmen are noticing these changes, they view the entire interacting system in its totality, not one isolated parameter at a time.
