I'm pointing out a policy that doesn't work and never will work. Iran has been jerking us around for years.
Step one is to stop pretending that you can deal with lunatics by holding enough meetings with them.
The problem (and again, this predates Obama) is that every time Iran makes pleasant noises, everyone backs off. Iran responds by pissing on our shoes, and redoubling their efforts. Another round of "negotiations" starts, another agreement arises, Iran breaks it, and this is repeated again and again.
It's the "talk talk fight fight" routine that tyrants have used on starry-eyed Western nations for decades.
Beyond that, if you want possible solutions (there are no easy ones), there are more stringent sanctions which could be escalated to the blockade stage if things got bad enough. If military action is taken, it will probably be by Israel, which saved us from Saddam's bomb years ago.
It would help if the international community was half as concerned about an anti-Western psychotic with nuclear weapons as they used to be about South Africa's political system.
