As most of us have noticed, the Republican Party over the past eight years wasn't exactly acting like Republicans. Theoretically, a Republican Congress and Republican President should have made a pretty good dent in the size of government, among other things. Not hardly. They rooted in the trough as eagerly as any West Virginian Senator.
2006 should have been a wakeup call that the class of '94, the last great Republican congressional victory, hadn't been sent to Washington to act like Democrats. No such luck. Newt wasn't around any more.
2008 should have been a wakeup trumpet in the face. That didn't seem to take, either.
We'll see where it goes from here.
By the way, if you read the article I posted, it pointed out that the Democrats, who have a rock-solid majority in both Houses, hasn't been able to get its act together, either.
