Then by all means, let's sell our lives to an all-powerful elite who will tell us what cars to drive, what lights to burn, what televisions to buy, what color to paint our roofs, what foods to eat...and a permit required for everything you do that remotely involves emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

I could continue these examples for another couple of hundred words, and document each one as either a proposed or actual control over our lives made by statists of one form or another with the excuse of "saving the environment."

And not one of them raises the slightest objection. It's all for the "greater good."

All those tyrants who used jackboots and guns to control populations must be grinding their teeth in hell. All they had to do was come up with some rationale like this and wait until a generation of gullible people beg to have their own chains put on. Too bad a lot of other people will get hauled in with them.

I would expect this kind of myrmidon thinking from other nations that have been breeding their populations for servitude to the State for generations. How the hell did this kind of slave mentality develop in a free country?
