This is a perfect example of a good government regulation. Clearly America needs to reduce its dependence on foreign oil, and we must also reduce greenhouse gases. Two critically important national objectives that will not be solved alone by the free market. However this regulation will help harness the forces of the free market to find better ways to make more fuel efficient cars.
