Communist countries have had carefully cultured enclaves of private enterprise. China has businessmen, skyscrapers, and moneymaking. These companies and businessmen exist by the permission of the State, and their existence could be dissolved at the State's whim. They are rarely allowed to forget this. When it comes down to it, they are property.
I am watching now as the government decides what prices internet companies are going to charge for their services, and how they'll be allowed to do business.
Allowed.
But hey, that's just a bit more "regulation," right? It sounds so nice and user-friendly when you call the ever-increasing control of our economy "regulation."
You obviously have a much higher tolerance for this kind of thing than I do.
Addendum: More on the government making a grab for the Internet here.
