For starters, as far as energy dependence is concerned, the free market would develop those domestic oil and gas resources that are currently blocked off by government fiat. Our energy industry has had both feet imbedded in government concrete, and now we demand "free market" results?
You want independence, start drilling. Or start building nuclear power plants. Preferably both. That Democrats are hard over against both of these show they have no more real interest in "energy independence" than any of the other virtues they pay lip service to, like "competition."
China sees "climate change" as just another way to channel wealth to China from more developed countries whose industrial policies are dictated by airheads. Here's just one little trick they propose. End result: China does whatever the heck it wants while the U.S. gets kneecapped again. Suckers.
You'd think you'd have figured this racket out from the first Kyoto Protocol years ago. What does it take?
