Gar fish can be huge, I saw one while canoeing across Lake Withlacoochee over ten feet long, and it
had a struggling softshell turtle in its jaws! But that canal in Madeira is open to the sea.
Gar are strictly fresh water fish. Also, they are very smooth swimmers. I'm pretty sure the critter in the tape
is something else.
