The current world record Gar came from the Red River on the border of Ok and Tx (didn't look it up, but I believe it was in the 270 lb area). I've seen them wieghed in excess of 200 Lbs. And have seen much larger ones in the water. There are some anecdotal references from the 18-19th centuries of fish that went over three hundred. Which is possible, Gar live a very long time and never stop growing.
