Some people take advantage of the "friction" when it's in their benefit. Remember a few days ago when the government relaxed the standards on mammograms? There was this huge hue and cry as people (some on this board) jumped all over the government for doing this as evidence of medical care rationing.
On the other hand, a few days later, when the obstetricians and gynecologist's association (not a government panel, this time) did the EXACT SAME THING with their recommendations for pap smears (I believe gothgirl pointed this out) there wasn't a peep of outrage from the critics about it.
It was only a coincidence both of these recommendations (from different sources)were released within a few days of each other, they had both been in the works for months. But the exaggerated response to the first, and total lack of response to the second, was definitely politically motivated, and certainly coordinated to influence the votes in congress. That was no coincidence.
