I had sided with the husband in this because I assumed the doctors had done repeated tests on her showing her brain damage. I should never make assumptions. Now I have an awful thought of a woman who could have been consciously aware that they were going to starve her to death as she lay there helpless, unable to communicate that she was still there. OTOH, would she have wanted to continue to live in that condition? A question impossible to answer and not mine to even guess.

I have to rethink my position on this issue. Being trapped in a conscious body is an awful prospect and could happen to any of us.
