π Saturday my Samsung Directv Tivo did a reset. On Sunday it reset several times. So Sunday night I unplugged it, and this morning disconnected it and opened it up. Well of course after years of neglect the thing is full of dust and fuzz. I cleaned it out and have it back up and running again. It seems to be stable and hopefully I have fixed the problem. I figure it either was over heating because of the clogged fan or a piece of dust or fuzz was causing a short on some vital IC pins. There's a possibility the hard drive is dieing. I hope I can keep it going till I can get one of the upcoming new Directiv Tivo HD machines. They are now saying it will be available in early 2010. Meanwhile I'll limp along with this old Standard Video one. I have replaced the hard drive once, upgrading to over 200 hrs. capacity. With the help of my son that wasn't a very difficult project.
