The difference is that there are hundreds of "chamber of commerce guys." There's only one government, and they have the power to use force. No corporation has ever tried to take over my lifestyle under force of law.

If you look at history and use common sense, there is no rational reason to fear private companies becoming totalitarian rulers. There is ample evidence and there are many historical examples for fearing governments doing so.

In other words, I can back my point of view in spades. What have you got?

Those "explanations" do tend to cramp up cherished worldviews, don't they? Small wonder they're ignored.
