Tom, Tom, Tom. It's disappointing to see you raise this again. You know that both East Germany was looted after WWII for war reparations. Millions and millions of POWS were used as free labor and whole factories moved to the USSR. There was no way East Germany could recover. West Germany, on the other hand, was not stripped, was a beneficiary of the Marshall Plan and had the West as trading partners.
North Korea was the client of two countries devastated by WWII, China and the USSR. It did not have the aid needed to recover from Japanese depredations nor did it have western markets.
South Korea, on the other hand, received Western aid in exchange for cheap labor. South Korea's recovery was driven by that cheap labor which was used to make products for Western corporations for distribution to the ROW.
Comparing East and West Germany and North and South Korea isn't intellectually honest and you know it. We've had this discussion. There is no fact which could be disputed.
You may be right, but your examples per se do not at all demonstrate your point.
