Re: Any opinions on the method of dating? n/t

Hi RobVG,

Stories like this are fun, partly from my secret wish that there really is an Indiana Jones, and partly from the challenge of web data mining the origins of tall tales.

The dating technique as described by the author of the Viewzone.com article, Dan Eden, (Dan Eden being the pen name of Viewzone.com owner Gary Vey ) would appear to be the Cydonian Method.

Unless I missed something, it’s based on some subjective assumptions, without any documentation, and the opinion of a “master archaeoastronomer who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of ridicule by the academic fraternity”.

Drawing a relationship between the positions of four rocks on the ground, and the stars in Orion’s belt seems like pareidolia to me, unless it’s backed up by some serious corroborating evidence.

I live in the desert southwest US, where there are dozens of Neolithic calendar sites built by Native Americans. I think these were mostly to tell when to plant corn and shear sheep, but some folks might see things there that I don’t.

BTW, if we follow the link describing Adam’s Calendar we find that all the players in the story are selling tours to the site.
