watching the plethora of 2012 doomsday shows on the various discovery channels, a sudden shift of the poles and axis of the earth is what they have in mind. All this supposedly brought about by some kind of allignment of our solar system with the center of the galaxy.
I suspect that a 45 degree shift like that would be a doomsday calamity, definitely worse that the calendar calamity predicted for 2000.
