Our education system has been declining for years. I was not educated as well as my grandfather during the first 8 years of school (he had to start working before 9th grade) and kids today are not as well educated through 12th grade as I was. Kids tomorrow will not be as well educated as they were five 5 years ago. Now they're lowering the standards? Where are we going to get our new teachers, scientists, doctors, lawyers? They won't have as well-rounded education as they should so the focus becomes narrower and narrower until all they see is their specialty.
When the education system goes down, so does the society. Right down the drain. People are already saying that China is taking America's place in the Global Community. They still educate their children well. Chinese parents in this country push their children to do well in school while our parents push their kids to do well in sports. Our priorities are skewed in this country and it won't be long until people no longer come to this country to be educated.
Our education system stinks and it's getting stinkier. As for people who educate their children at home? Ridiculous. Unless they have degrees in mathematics, English, history, science, etc. etc.
