Re: Let's hope...

I was looking for another of your posts when I stumbled upon this one, the (other) one being partly about the decline in participation and meat on this board. My two cents' worth would've been that I've lost interest in talking to crazy people, and not just the blatantly crazy like birthers and deathers and every flavor of nutcase under the sun...but also people who nod sagely as if they've just heard the meaning of the life, universe, and everything, at chestnuts "like the government ought to be run like a business!".

Or extremists who desire ideological purity so much that they'd reduce America to the economic state of a third-world country. You know that repealing the minimum wage under the very conditions you describe would immediately cause all wages to free-fall in America, effectively leveling our wages with those in Bangalore. While it's no longer true that a rising tide lifts all boats, the swirling drain still sucks for all of us.

But you know the biggest irony, and the best sign of all that I'm dealing with crazy people, is failure to see a contradiction the size of a battleship. What you mean by "ideological purity" is the assertion that capitalism is the route to universal prosperity in any society. And yet you predict that following that path will lead not to prosperity but to destitution.

A very tiny percentage of Americans will benefit from the economic regime you desire, of course, and that's the point. But given the damage the other 99% of us will take from your lunacy, I'd say you've just made a compelling argument for socialism. To protect us from people like you.
