Gothgirl is right, both sides on this board should drop this partisan crap once in while and take an honest look at what’s going on.
You want to credit Obama for what? The rate of job loss has to decline like your chart shows. The “bell curve†reflects the fact not everyone is going to lose their job. If they were, the curve would steeper and the “median†shifted to the right and then rapidly fall off. Job loss has to peek and taper off as a finite number of businesses either fail or reduce the number of their employees just enough to meet the lower level of demand.
And like other recessions, this one is industry specific with effects reverberating down through support economies. Eventually the rate of job loss and the unemployment rate will return to pre-recession levels. Unfortunately the equilibrium rate of job loss will be accompanied by an unemployment rate that will remain high.
You like crediting Obama’s stimulus spending. You should take a look at Recovery.gov. Only a fraction of the money has been spent but I don’t hear anyone looking at your chart suggesting that we don’t need to spend it all.
The loss of seats doesn't reflect just a dissatisfaction with the economy in general but more specifically Obama’s attempt to ramrod healthcare and ignore the economic repercussions of actions like tightening air quality standards. Both issues that need to be addressed but not during the “worst economic crisis since the great depression“.
