i love disaster movies; I don't expect high art or accurate science, i'll settle for screaming multitudes and mass destruction. but 2012 was a waste of special effects and a good cast. i've seen better acting and script in "poseidon adventure"--both of them. "district 9" got off to a great start, with neat aliens and off-world tech, and some clever social satire, but soon degenerated into a western shoot-em-up with bugs and the usual corporate villainy. not that i don't believe in corporate villains, i just don't need them crammed down my throat.
that's why i'll skip "avatar". yeah, i already know the red, black, brown and yellow races got a crappy deal from the whites, but i personally had nothing to do with it and i refuse to feel guilty about it.
