It is capitalism, economic freedom, and a robust tradition of private wealth and property, that have made this country into the most successful one on the planet, and the one where everyone wants to live. We had people pouring into this nation at the height of the evil Gilded Age, fleeing nations where the only robber barons were real barons.
Every damn hellhole on this planet in the past 200 years has had more than its share of political leaders and governments that ran the show, sucked wealth from their nation, and distributed it as the leaders saw fit, creating great "public projects," "five year plans," and the like for "the people." Obviously it takes a bit more than this to create prosperity.
We even had laboratory experiments. East and West Germany. North and South Korea. Hong Kong and China. Government supremacy vs. private supremacy. What was learned after this? Apparently not much.
Call that "worship" if you like. I call it recognition of a reality that should have been obvious years ago.
