And one day one wakes up in a mansion with all the luxuries and material 'toys' life has to offer (which is surprisingly little actually) and one looks around from the top of that materialist hill down at the workers and the bosses all keeping themselves busy. One sees this and one asks, "Why?"
One suddenly notices not the things they do - but what they don't do.
The most horrible realization of all is that humans don't think. They react. You can't think...TB can't think....I can't think. We react to external and internal stimuli. We do not initiate.
Try it. Pay no attention to your surroundings and try to think a 'new' thought. Nothing happens. The only thoughts you or anyone can think are reactive thoughts and are born of reaction.
This fact takes on a new importance when one looks at humanity. The whole world suddenly makes sense. After all when humans can only react, imitation is the natural result. Each lives a life very similar to their neighbors. They watch the same shows, drive the same cars, eat the same foods and repeat the process ad nauseum. Each is unique, yet here the similarities drown out the differences. We regurgitate all that is around. Each new child born while I write this post will create a life sculpted by reactions to all that already exists. Their careers, schooling, families and a lifetime of reactive thoughts will define who they are.
The material treadmill leads to a dead-end alley. Nice cars, homes, clothes, travel - living life like millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne...where does one go from there? Philanthropy? Sure from a material perspective that makes sense. But when ones eyes see beyond the material and beyond the so-called 'spiritual' into realms of existence no one even knows exist, the whole world is a speck of sand and is perfect just the way it is. Trying to change it is unintelligent. Trying to change oneself - that is intelligent.
Perfection. All around us. Each horrible event - absolutely perfect.
Once one has this epiphany the world in all its commotion makes perfect sense, like gears in the reactive watch - and its almost as if it doesn't move at all - just like a speck of sand.
This world will break apart and there will someday be no humans anywhere around the universe. All they built - everything they reacted to will be gone.
If they learned from all this reaction - they will find themselves in new worlds, new dimensions and new forms - their minds will no longer simply react - but initiate and create new ideas, new worlds and a portion of the fabric of the infinite universe itself will be created by them.
That is the next threshold of consciousness - the next reality, which by comparison makes this reality appear like a torturous, robotic non-existence.
Meanwhile... here we are, reacting to a world we did not make, trying to acquire enough data to broaden our mental paradigm and make that leap. Like robots, we mimic, imitate and our lives are filled with endless repetition in a million and one ways.
