Not infuriating. A bit depressing. I am currently watching people in Washington who have no frigging idea what's real and what isn't attempt to re-engineer my society.
You don't have political power (or not much, anyway) and your opinion doesn't affect my life at all. But a lot of people in a similar category managed put a single political party in near-absolute control of this country, and that party is led by people with an ideology hostile to individual and economic liberty. Ideas matter. So do elections.
I'm hoping the Democrats lose the House and Senate this time around. We could do worse than having Republicans run the legislative branch and have a Democrat running the executive branch. It seemed to work pretty well last time around, although Clinton wasn't the committed leftist Obama is.
As far as I know, the late 90s was the first time that setup happened in modern history. Would be nice to have more than one data point.
Of course, the Republicans would need to have an equivalent of Gingrich calling the shots. The Republican congress went to hell about the time he resigned. I've seen actual data.
