Re: the left hand of darkness

When one medicine routinely cures patients, and another routinely kills them, you don't need to be a doctor to figure out which one is good and which one isn't.

"What is the proper relationship of man to the State" has answers. History tells us a lot. Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill, just to name a couple of historical figures, were not just two people with different opinions on which no judgment could be pronounced.

It is obviously not impossible to apply value judgments to the question of the relationship between the rights of the individual and the function of the State. When one political view requires enslaving those with differing views, again, it's about more than just different opinions. A wolf and a sheep deciding what's for lunch is not an ambivalent question.

Just curious: When someone has such a cosmopolitan worldview, how do you decide what's worth dying for? Flip a coin?
