Re: Carly Fiorina: "contrast my proven record of success with Barbara Boxer's failed 28-year career"

It looks a lot like the US stock market during the Bush era. An overinflated temporary burst, followed by a sharp decline, improving immediately upon her exit.

I know what you mean about CEO bullshit. They must teach a course in it in Management 101. During one of our own recent staff meetings, when our fearless leader announced that we could expect a 40% reduction in staff and salary and benefit cuts due to an agency re-organization he had precipitated, one of our workers, a woman in a wheelchair with kids in high school, a mortgage, and an invalid mother staying with them almost broke down in tears as she whimpered that she simply couldn't cope if she lost her job. No, I am not making this up.

Well, it could be argued that her problems were not necessarily his fault, but his response was predictably obscene. He immediately launched into basic booster execubabble, cliche and platitude, as if on cue. "Think of it as a challenge", he said, "this is an opportunity, not a crisis. Why I remember losing my last job was the best thing that ever happened to my career." He went on in the same vein for a few minutes, until our stunned silence and slack-jawed amazement finally registered with him and he stopped talking, sheepishly, in mid-sentence.

Yeah, I know, he was a municipal bureaucrat. But he is also a private businessman, and does extensive consulting on the side. Not that it makes any real difference. He's a suit. They're all cut from the same cloth and they all think and sound the same.
