Capitalism is pretty good at running one hell of a lot of things around this country. Look around you. We only notice when a few of them go bad.
Oil companies, just as one example, plan in decades. Given the capital and permit requirements, they have to. Governments plan in two and four year intervals, and the erratic economic environment they generate as they flip from one ideology to another make it almost impossible for the private sector to know what they'll be dealing with five years from now, never mind ten.
