I was just off doing something else and remembered that I add some chopped (very small dice) fresh sweet onions to my salmon loaf. It's as much for the texture as for the flavor but it really adds a nice component.
I'm afraid if he adds more than the jalapenos and the other items already mentioned and recommended, his dip might get a bit busy and the salmon overwhelmed rather than enhanced. Should keep it fairly simple.
However, if anyone else decides to try this and they aren't jalapeno fanciers, they could try some chopped tomatoes (fine chop) and capers added to the whipped cream cheese and salmon. Easy on the capers, though; they're salty! And again, a little fresh lemon juice. I'd be just a pinch of paprika would add something nice to it, too.
