Mine has a cord.
Can't imagine that battery powered would give enough power. With a corded one, you run the risk of running over the electric cord so one must be careful. My dad ran over the cord some 55 years ago. You should have heard the cussing!
I haven't mowed my own lawn in--come to think of it, I've NEVER mowed a lawn. Lawnmowers scare me and I never could get one started.
