Flame » in reply to Tea-party group ousts commentator Mark Williams over blog post

Organizations are irrelevant to this "grass roots" movment.

At least, that's what you keep insisting every time I mention a tea party organization. It's so genuinely grass root, you insist, that any organizations I might discern are either hallucinations or some sort of agent provocateur set up by Democrats.

So nobody's actually censured Mark Williams, and he hasn't really been ejected from a movement in which nobody has the power to eject him and in any case there are no organizations to be ejected from. Mark Williams therefore remains a tea partier in good standing.

That about right so far, TB?

You grasped awfully desperately at Biden's demurral of the tea party as a "racist organization". Are you both playing with words? If the tea party isn't an organized movement then the characterization of it as a "racist organization" is moot. But if it's not an organized movement then it can easily be racist in character without being a racist organization.

It's the racist character of the tea party movement that we've been talking about all along. The right's hatred of Barack Obama is extraordinary, and the only thing extraordinary about him is his skin color. He's not a radical by any stretch of an imagination less fevered than a wingnut's; the left is nearly as unhappy with him as the right. But something about Barack Obama pins the hatred meter among rightwingers, and that something is his skin.

The tea party duck quacks, walks, and looks like racism. I call it racist.
