Good question, I haven't fully processed it yet. As much as I'd like to see 9/11 avenged and Al-Quaeda and the Taliban out of business, I don't see any point in bleeding ourselves dry and still failing. There comes a time when you just have to cut your losses.

I suppose as long as there's a fighting chance we can fulfill the mission, we should stick it out and try our best. But once we reach the point where we're just spinning our wheels, we should waste no time getting out of that hell hole. Wars are fought to obtain political objectives, if they cannot be secured, or if the cost is too high, you are just shedding blood and wasting money for no reason but to save face. No politician's face is worth even one American kid's life. And sometimes, you may actually win militarily and still have absolutely nothing worthwhile to show for it.

The cop-out answer is that I don't have access to enough information to answer your question, but the real truth is that the decision is outside my pay grade and competence level. And I'm glad it is. Either way, stay or leave, I don't know if I'd have the courage to act on what I finally decided was right.

I only hope that when Mr Obama makes that decision, he does it for the right reason, not out of fear of being called a coward, or fear of risking defeat.
