Re: Re: Crock is right.

Yeah, this whole thing is certainly something to wrestle with.

The clear path is to follow the letter of the law-the constitution.

Emotionally, we want to look for ways to circumvent it.

I read one opinion piece that stated we should be “grateful” Muslims chose to build their mosque at ground zero because it will allow us to demonstrate how much we value freedom. If you ask me, it shows how willing some people are to bend over and grab their ankles.

You said,
"My feeling on this is that since freedom of worship is such a fundamental part of what America's about, it'd be a pity if that freedom is curtailed for anyone."

Moving the site would not stop anyone from worshiping. In fact, there are over 100 mosques in use today in NYC.

There’s a “joke” going around, you’ve probably heard it:

“All we need to do is open up a HOOters on one side of the mosque and a Piggly Wiggly on the other.”

While it’s just a joke, it’s a pretty poignant portrayal of the type of disrespect that these Muslims are showing (dare I say) the rest of America.

I’m still wrestling with it.
