I wonder if what you experienced was actually a migraine. I'm not saying it wasn't, just wondering. All of the migraine sufferers I've ever known, and I've known several beginning with my mother, had recurring migraines. One lady, with whom I worked a few years ago, knew all the triggers and yet she still had frequent migraines. They would start and last 2-3 days and were totally debilitating. My Mom (years before they had any kind of migraine medications) would lie in darkened room unable to tolerate any light or noise.
I've had migraine intensity headaches but they were not migraines. They were sinus headaches because the pain was in the forehead area and not in the usual migraine location. Same debilitating feature, just different source and location.
