Waving the scarecrow of the religious ultra-rightist (racist/homophobe/creationist troglodyte) is the only political weapon the Democrats have right now. They're dead on the actual issues that people will be voting on. But I think for the first time they're having some trouble getting their shitstorm rolling despite the enthusiastic assistance of their pet media.
If the examples of raw statism of the Left and the Democratic Party were as few and far between as the actual - not imagined - examples of conservative authoritarianism, I'd be one happy guy.
