Every spending cut on the Federal or State level will result in Democrats hauling some victim up in front of the lights to insist that without infinite spending growth we're all doomed. Believe me, it's a long-standing technique here in California. I saw in those stories exactly one patient fatality that can even try to claim a possible link to funding reductions, and even that wasn't certain. The bone marrow patient was immediately funded, and died anyway.
