Spiritual vs. physical
I'm wondering if it's not both. God teaches us to depend upon Him (for lack of a better word) for all things and trust. So God would provide both bread in the spiritual sense and the physical sense. When I've been in financial need, something always comes my way. And when I'm in need of spiritual sustenance, that has always been provided, too. I was taught that all you have to do is take the first step and God will do the rest.
