The point I was making...

...was not that everything they do is illegal, unethical or bad. It was that their R&D expenses are inflated by things that are actually marketing strategies. Marketing is not bad; they have to do it. Duh. And yes, they have to pay for failed drugs, i.e. Vioxx that was withdrawn. However, they milk the US public and economy and I'm sorry, but I'm just not willing to bear the brunt of the cost for the rest of the fucking world who uses these drugs, too.

The FDA process is very wieldy; however, it IS necessary in most cases to be sure a drug is safe and efficacious. It could be shortened if the drug has already been tested in Europe under adequate standards. There are some drugs that need to be rushed into productions because they could save lives of people dying rapidly from some untreatable cancers or something equally deadly. But they still require the stringent testing. Die from the drug (or it might save your life) or die from the disease. I'd prefer to roll the dice for treatment if there was a chance in hell. When my father died of pancreatic & liver cancer, there was 0 treatment. Had they had an experimental drug...

Also, don't be fooled by drug company testing. Of the results that are published, they only publish the results they want you to know. The rest they hide. We need a law requiring total disclosure and publication of ALL the result material, not just what the drug companies want you to know. That IS unethical IMO.
