The point was discussion, not political posturing.

Which is something of which you seem to be incapable. You're like a peacock who can't resist strutting his stuff.

I'll quote (with permission) a post from another site where I posted the link on Gifford's health care. It is a thoughtful, reasoned response without political posturing:

^A story that makes me cringe.

Sometimes a small glimmer of "reality" tries to impinge on my brain that says there's not enough money, doctors, and equipment to help everyone to the max, like they did this woman.

So, it's either help a few, or help nobody. They choose to help those whose human worth appears to be greater (to them).

It's like this: I have limited resources. When someone in need around me asks for my help, do I automatically give it to them on a "first come" basis? Or do I say, "I'm sorry, but I have to save my money to be sure I get Nic raised and out of college." In other words, do I choose to give my resources to someone who is worth most to me? Sure I do.

The question is, whose resources is it? If it belongs to all taxpayers equally, then whose value judgment must be used to decide who gets help? Realistically, it can't be mine and it can't be the collective "all taxpayers" either.

Someone "up there" in the chain of responsibility has to decide. The higher up the chain they are, the more their reaction will be to help those who're also further up the chain.

Can we believe that it's different in other countries? We know, to some degree it is. But that's where resources are limited or where their choices are limited. For instance, there's a car wreck tonight and everyone in the car is poor and maybe even bad characters. But there is nobody else in the emergency room tonight, so they put all their efforts into saving the bad guys. But what if the president of the local chamber of commerce suddenly showed up in the emergency room with a life threatening event at the exact same time as the bad guys? A choice has to be made. Resources are limited.

I'm just saying, I can see both sides and I just wish none of us ever had to be helped based on how much our perceived human worth is.^
