I see the quest for profit.

For example, our Utility company wants to charge on a floating fee: more during peak hours than off hours. Here's a link from the local paper.

I was offered a smart meter, and I declined. You'll recall from our past conversations that I don't really trust our local Utility. While the geek-pod craves data and graphs that are possible with the smart grid system, I saw this sort of thing coming. And it has nothing to do with wind power or anything else. It has to do with the future of electical power pricing, started by the fraud that was Enron.

They will make up brown-outs, we know, because they have done it before. And it drives the price up. Electricity is a commodity. And all commodities markets can be manipulated.

I wonder, what rate would they pay a grid tied PV system when it's feeding electrons back to the grid at peak hours? I doubt it would match what they charge for peak hour kilowatts.
