Re: Re: Relativistic Capitalism

The reason the founders weren't too keen on separating the state and economics was that they were all businessmen themselves and had profited from sweetheart deals with the Crown themselves. Remember the true cause of the Boston tea party, it wasn't the tax on tea Hancock was pissed off about, it was the LIFTING of the tax on tea. It undercut his own deal with the Dutch to market their product.

You continue to miss the whole point, TB. I'm not attacking the principles of free market capitalism, I'm attacking the way capitalists pervert those principles for their own profit, while feeding dupes like you all this starry-eyed pollyanna crap about how the big bad government is the only thing preventing you from getting rich.

Capital and the State are not antagonists, they feed off each other. The little corner producer with his lemonade stand or carpet store or whorehouse isn't Capital, they're just the fantasy they toss to the employees so they'll keep working for the day they can be "businessmen", too. And just enough of them make it that the losers never realize the game was rigged against them from the start.
