Most of will see it differently

My fast take after reading it. For the record I was for taking Gaddafi down.

Why he lumped Japan in with Iraq, Afghanistan and al Queada is beyond me. I don't think that was the right platform for showing gratitude to our military for supporting Japan.

After SarKozy dragged Obama into taking action Obama has come to the conclusion that is our best interest not to let Gaddafi harm any more people. He actually said;" I refused to let that happen". He said he will never hesitate to take military action when it's in our best interest, but I beg to differ on this one. Then he says he consulted the congress, but from what I have been ready no one was asked of their opinion but were vaguely told what was going down right before.

I do think we could have mobilized a international coalition sooner if we would have acted sooner as it wasn't just the US trying to convince the members of the UN. I'm am disappointed that Brazil acted like a wallflower seeing how Obama was there giving our financial and moral support for them.

I don't think anybody doubted our capacity to carry out the operation and the mixed messages of what the United States of America said it would do is still conflicting. If you say Gaddafi has to go then that's nation building and I am fine with that, but get your administration personnel on the same page. We need to get past saying it is not nation building because it is weather we are leading the mission or just helping we are still involved in nation building. To say that broadening our military for regime change would be a mistake seems contradictory as we know he said Gaddafi has to go.

The rest of the speech was good as can be expected but I think he played the wrong card with the selective humanitarian aid message.

I also don't like they way Obama shows his hand.

Something of interest is that Gaddafi's son (commander of the military)who was thought to be more reasonable was met by the state department for a learning experience but had to leave before scheduled because of the uprising of the protesters Day of Rage march Feb 17th.
