Re: "tail end of something..."

There is nothing Obama could do that will receive even lukewarm approval from the Far Right. Gingrich's and Boehner's (and other's) reflexive flip-flops, always 180 degrees to what Obama was doing demonstrate this; as shameless and predictable as Limbaugh or Beck. They are so eager to discredit him they contradict themselves on camera without realizing they are doing so, or how obvious it is to anyone who's watching. And they are so ideologically driven it is highly unlikely they will ever realize it.

There are valid criticisms that can be made of the President's actions, from both the Left and Right perspectives. And even the best of intentions and planning can go astray in a rapidly evolving and confused situation. I certainly have my own concerns, constitutional, tactical and strategic, and I can see that Obama's policy is a risky one, by necessity engaged in haste and without clear potential resolution.

But his most vocal political enemies have already decided a priori that anything he does must be anathema, that he is congenitally incapable of getting anything right because of his intrinsic make-up. It's in his DNA and his history. To them he is the embodiment of all evil, on a quasi-religious level. They reveal a shrill and desperate political fundamentalism reinforced by a naked and unapologetic economic self-interest, and other psychological and cultural predispositions pretty obvious to those who don't share them. There is no point in trying to reason with this crowd, and nothing they think can really be taken seriously.
