The meme was very useful, for Republicans, as long as it could get conservative Joe the Plumber types and other assorted knuckle-draggers fired up. It was all over the place, on Limbaugh and Beck, and viral on the net. Then conservative crypto-candidates like Palin and Bachmann picked it up. Now its started to spread to more credible Republican personalities like Huckabee and Gingrich, and even mainstream righties like Boehn, while not endorsing it outright, refuse to call it out, spouting out limp pseudo-evasions like "I have no reason but to take the President at his word." (wink, wink).
And when I tried to get your opinion on it a few days ago, when both Huckabee and Gingrich hopped on the Kenya Mau-Mau Birther Bandwagon, you brusquely dismissed me, as if it was all being beneath your lofty budget calculations and statesmanlike deliberations, something you had never bothered to look into, as if it was some minor local aberration or fringe rumor. But you would not address it as nonsense either. And now, it's all about the liberal media?
This is over and above whatever legitimacy the budget issue has, and is totally unrelated to it. The Republican Right has gotten into bed with these skanks for the cheap thrills, and failed to bring any protection with them. (Or even bothering to shower afterwards). And now you find yourself in the unenviable position of having to retreat right through your own minefields.
I have to admit you scooped me on this, but when you suddenly, out of the blue, started quoting responsible, reasonable websites and bringing up this topic after so carefully avoiding it since way before the elections, I should have realized you had finally started looking over the Karl Rove memos on the topic. It wasn't until Jody asked her innocent question that I realized you were in full preemptive CYA mode. Don't accuse me of changing the subject and spare us the "lookee here at the budget, over here, over here."
Do the meth.
