I think the space science discussion board should have a much higher standard than the flame, current events, or off-topic boards, where these latter three boards should welcome pretty much any silly crap people want to throw up there. They're principally for entertainment purposes, or at least that's how I see them.
There is however a serious need to enforce standards of good science on the space science board, to maintain a high quality scientific discussion, and to encourage the occasional participation of real scientific experts. Individuals committing particularly egregious and repeated violations of clear, rational, and critical thinking are understandably subject to banishment. Individuals displaying ignorance (even blatant, shocking dumb-ass ignorance) should of course be given the opportunity to learn, and they should be willing to learn.
