Ah, casting my pearls before swine.
In football, Bill Parcells made the oft quoted statement "You are what {your W/L record says} you are." This gets shoved in your face when you lose but apparently this is suddenly invalid now that the Patriots team has won consistently.

Bill Belichick is that rare phenomenon, a football head coach with a really high IQ. Marv Levy was another such rare bird. Anyhow, Belichick is now redefining what it takes to create a winning team, with emphasis on the team. The salary cap makes the past paradigm of a dynasty of highly compensated super stars untenable in today's NFL environment. Think of it as evolution in action and Belichick is the next step. He's developing an algorithm that is more effective for the environment.

Actually the 5-11 Pats are unanticipatedly 1 year ahead in their rebuilding for contention schedule with several talent gaps filled with journeymen. But hey, if the other teams insist on losing, we'll accomodate them.
